Hand carved wooden board made with finest walnut tree - “Luminaries of Bolnisi”

The Tale:

We’ve created this Esquisse by emulating the decors of Sioni of Bolnisi. As it turns out, four-pointed, linear, or leaf resembling cross-like figures were called “stars” in the mountains. It should be noted that these forms have symbolized minor luminaries of the skies, since they were located on the peripheral parts of the composition, in relation to the „Borjgali“, the symbol of the Sun, on the main pillar. It is theorized, that the four-pointed flower would take astral meaning and would usually be depicted on the body of the chosen animal or person.

How We Make It:

• Wooden Boards Hand carving Process-First and foremost, the quality of the product largely depends on the material itself. Firstly, we must find dry and hard wood. Walnut is a perfect tree for exactly that.
• After the material is ready to be worked on, we draw the esuisses of the shapes and ornaments, which we’re planning to carve on the wooden board. After that, we begin carving on the board with chisels of appropriate sizes. Finally, when the board takes its final form, it is, once again, processed with fine sandpaper.
• At last, the final product is processed with edible edible oil and after days of hard work, the artwork is ready to be delivered.

• The walnut wood boards material can be harmed (get bent or cracked) by Sun. Please keep it away from the direct exposure to sunlight.
• Can be used to store bread, cheese, fruits and other food. But it’s largely used for decorative purposes. Do not use the board to cut or beat the products!
• Do not, under any circumstances, wash the board in the dishwasher. It can be washed in a regular sink, but its prolonged exposition to water is ill advised. After washing with water, clean it with dry cloth.
