Tree of life - Carefully hand Carved Wood: Ideal for Use as a Wooden Platter or just table decoration

The Tale:

We’ve carved this Esquisse emulating the “Tree of Life” décor, adorning the church of Sioni (V century). The Poplar tree, as it turns out, was considered to be the symbol for the biblical “Tree of Life” in Georgian culture and religion, the same tree that stands in the Garden of Eden, emanating beauty and exquisite fragrance.

Popular poem says that it bore grapes at the top, and he who tasted it would be guarded against all harm. Moreover, “Tree of Life” cult in our culture, turns out to have been popular even in pre-Christian era.

“And then there stood a tree on the place, high up in the mountains and the tree was astonishingly beautiful and fragrant and the tree was miraculous, for the wounded game that would taste either a leaf, or the fruit of it, would be delivered from death…”

What it offers:

• Hand carved wood piece of walnut tree.
• From the Sioni church wall, we carved this ancient Georgian ornament carefully on our walnut wooden platter, after which it was waxed and further treated to protect it from decay.
• Our carved wood has an impressive natural ambiance to the table which it adorns. You can use it for fruit, cheese, a little Chinese tea cup, etc. or you can just put it on your table to lift your mood. The wood platter is also fantastic artwork to decorate the wall.

How We Make It:

• Wood platters Hand carving Process-First and foremost, the quality of the product largely depends on the material itself. Firstly, we must find dry and hard wood. Walnut is a perfect tree for exactly that.
• After the material is ready to be worked on, we draw the esquisses of the shapes and ornaments, which we’re planning to carve on the wooden platter. After that, we begin carving on the board with chisels of appropriate sizes. Finally, when the board takes its final form, it is, once again, processed with fine sandpaper.
• At last, the final product is processed with edible eatable oil and after days of hard work, the artwork is ready to be delivered.

 Characteristics, Cleaning and Care:

• Materials: Walnut tree, eatable oil
• Size: 29 x 19 cm (11.5 x 7.5 in)
• The carved wood material can be harmed (get bent or cracked) by the Sun. Please keep it away from direct exposure to sunlight.
• Can be used to store bread, cheese, fruits and other food. But it’s largely used for decorative purposes. Do not use the board to cut or beat the products!
• Do not, under any circumstances, wash the board in the dishwasher. It can be washed in a regular sink, but its prolonged exposition to water is ill advised. After washing with water, clean it with dry cloth.
